On September 2nd, 2006, my brother, Ryan Christopher Higgins, was tragically killed in a car accident.
Born on December 13th, 1976, he was 29 years old. He was born and raised in Claremont, California. After graduating from Claremont High School, he went off to college at San Diego State where he studied Business and played on the school's hockey team. He transferred to and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona. Shortly after graduation Ryan moved back to San Diego.
Ryan's first career path was Personal Finance and Investments. He worked hard and found it challenging. However, he eventually followed in his Father's footsteps and switched his focus to real estate. Ryan pursued not only selling real estate, but also the financing end of mortgages. After years of being an agent, Ryan tested for and received his broker's license. Armed with his broker's license he started a successful business with his partner and friend Phil Freedman, Pacific Southwest Real Estate and Lending.
Although Ryan was a very motivated businessman, having fun was a priority in his life also. His family was very important to him, and he loved nothing more than having a good time with friends. He was very adventurous and enjoyed many activities including playing hockey, tennis, hunting, and biking. He was passionate about the Pacific Ocean, boating, surfing, fishing, and scuba diving. On a recent fishing trip, Ryan caught a huge 38-inch Yellowtail!
Ryan leaves behind both of his parents Mary and Paul Higgins, my wife Danielle and me, his girlfriend of almost three years Rachel Tew and many, many friends.
